BRIEF: Veterans Affairs Committee to Hold Town Hall in Aberdeen

Oct. 19--On Thursday evening, the Governor's Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee will hold a town hall meeting on veterans issues at the Pearsall Building in Aberdeen.

During the gathering, two Marine Corps veterans will be awarded Purple Heart medals for their service in the Korean War. Those veterans set to be honored are Irvin Stephens and James Evans.

An assortment of service providers and community partners will also be on hand to share stories of how they are working to serve military veterans and their families in Southwest Washington. The Veterans' Affairs Advisory Committee is under the direction of Charles Wharton through the end of the year and is composed of 17 members who advise the governor and the director of the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs on issues and programs concerning veterans.

The town hall will take place from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. today at the Pearsall building, located at 2109 Sumner Ave., Aberdeen. Additional information is available online at www.dva.wa.gov or by calling 1-800-562-0132.
