WINCHESTER — A ceremony and concert commemorating the 65th anniversary of the Korean War’s end was held Sunday at the Korean War Memorial in Jim Barnett Park.

The event honored local Chapter 313 of the Korean War Veterans Association.

Winchester Mayor David Smith issued a proclamation to the chapter, which had almost 30 members present.

A performance by the Arts Chorale of Winchester, led by artistic director Michael Main, included “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “America the Beautiful.”

After the names of the fallen soldiers were read with a toll of the bell, a wreath was placed at the memorial.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars 2132 honor guard gave military honors.

Michael R. Phelps of Phelps Funeral and Cremation in Winchester sponsored the event.

The Korean War ended on July 27, 1953.
